Jovon Newman is a rising star in the country-R&B music scene, with a rapidly growing following on social media. Born and raised in Smyrna, Delaware, Jovon enlisted in the Delaware Air National Guard in 2015 before pursuing his passion for music.

In 2021, Jovon’s cover of Brett Young’s “In Case You Didn’t Know” went viral on TikTok, amassing over 1 million views and catching the attention of Nick Cannon, who gave Jovon a shout-out to his 4.6 million Instagram followers. Jovon’s talent also caught the eye of former President George W. Bush, who invited him to perform at the prestigious 2021 Commonwealth Awards in Wilmington.

Jovon’s influences include R&B and country artists such as Usher, Frank Ocean, Tim McGraw, Musiq Soulchild, Darius Rucker, Delaware’s own Jimmie Allen, and Brett Young. He signed with record label War Horse Entertainment in the fall of 2021, and went on to release original songs “Sola,” “Certified,” and “Obsession,” as well as country covers of hits by Jason Aldean, Carrie Underwood, and Kane Brown on Spotify.

Jovon’s hard work and dedication to his craft paid off in 2021, as he finished the year with 51.7K streams on Spotify – nearly 14 times more than his total in 2020. In 2022, Jovon continued to make strides in the industry, signing with War Horse Entertainment and releasing his four-song EP, “Old State Road.” Despite his recent success, Jovon remains grounded and grateful for his roots.
